Chhapra : Five armed criminals looted Rs 4.95 lakh from Bheldi branch of Punjab National Bank (PNB) under Bheldi police station in Saran district around 12.15 pm on March 20, 2017, after making the bank employees and customers present there hostage. Saran SP Ansuiya Ransingh Sahu confirmed the cash loot from the Bheldi branch of the PNB and said police were investigating into the incident.

The criminals escaped on bikes after looting the cash carrying even the hard disc of the CCTV. The PNB branch is hardly 3 km away from the Bheldi police station. SHO, Bheldi police station, Khalid Akhtar, said that police were trying to identify the criminals though they had also taken away the hard disc  of the CCTV. He, however, said that police were conducting raids to arrest them. Bheldi is about 27 km from Chhapra, district headquarters of Saran in North Bihar.
