Bhabhua : Five girls drowned to death in a pond at village Baddha under Nunav police station in Kaimur district on April 3 afternoon. Four of them belonged to one family. Bodies of all the five girls were fished out with the help of villagers. Later, police brought the bodies to Bhabhua Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.

SHO, Nunao police station, Birendra Kumar Paswan said that five girls Jyoti Kumari, 15, and Khushboo Kumari, 13, daughters of Rajendra Rajak, Puja Kumari, 12, and Khushi Kumari, 10, daughters of Surendra Rajak, and Ladali Kumari, 12, daughter of Subhash Kushwaha of Baddha village under Nunav police station had gone to Tilahi Pond near Maa Kali temple of the village for washing cloths in the afternoon on April 3.

When they did not return till evening, the family members searched for them. They found cloths at the bank of the pond but not the girls. They called the girls but there was no response. The villagers gathered there. After much effort, the villagers fished out bodies of the girls from the pond in the evening. Surednra Rajak was younger brother of Rajedndra Rajak but he died three years ago. The family earns livelihood by washing clothes of others.
