Ara : Bhojpur district administration seized 49 overloaded trucks carrying sand and realized a fine of Rs 20 lakh from them during an intensive drive against overloading of trucks on May 12, 2018, night, and also on May 13. Trucks overloaded with sand run in different parts of Bhojpur district and also in another districts that too without chalans.

Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar, with a view to checking this illegal practice, formed a team comprising District Transport Officer (DTO) Madhav Kumar, SDO Arun Prakash, Mines Officer Parshuram Singh, asking it to track and seize overloaded trucks carrying sand. The team seized 14 trucks from Gadhani, 12 from Pawana, seven each from Chandi and Koelwar, five from Sahar and four from Sandesh areas. The office of the DTO realized Rs 7 lakh from the seized trucks while the Mines department realized Rs 13 lakh from them.

The DM said that the magistrates and SHOs of police station concerned had been asked to continue the drive.
