Ara : Bhojpur police arrested two liquor smugglers and seized 480 bottles of India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) near Abul Bari Bridge over river Sone at Koelwar under Koelwar police station on January 31. Police also seized a country- made pistol and three live cartridges from their possession. Later, police forwarded them to jail.
SHO, Koelwar Police Station, said that he got information that a big consignment of liquor was being brought over from Jharkhand. He immediately started vehicle checking at Abul Bari Bridge on January 31. During vehicle checking, police located a Pick-up van coming from Patna. Police intercepted the vehicle. Seeing the police, two persons tried to escape but were chased and caught.
The arrested persons were identified as Raju Yadav of Sonbarsha in Buxar district and Pintu Tiwari of Barisawan under Shahpur police station in Bhojpur district. Police also recovered a country made pistol and three live cartridges from their possession. When the vehicle was searched, police seized 480 bottles of IMFL packed in 116 packets. The SHO said that the consignment was to be delivered to Chunnu Singh of Babura under Koelwar police station. He said that police were now searching for Chunnu Singh.
