Muzaffarpur: Cattle in Muzaffarpur district often die for want of proper treatment. In a district having 16 blocks, there are only 36 veterinarians while the number of cattle is around 13 lakh. In the absence of Block Animal Husbandry officer in some blocks, farmers are forced to take their cattle to private vets for treatment. There is acute shortage of Antibiotic in the blocks. District Animal husbandry officer Dr Jagannath Baitha said that there were only 37 veterinary hospitals in the district and it requires 15 more. The district urgently requires posting of more veterinarians, sources said.
