Ara : A case of unnatural sex with three inmates of Ara Remand Home by 8 inmates came to surface on August 1, 2018, afternoon. As the matter came to the knowledge of the officials of the Remand Home, they admitted the victims to Ara Sadar Hospital. SHO, Town police station, Ara, along with police force rushed to the spot and prepared the list of the culprits. An FIR has also been lodged with Ara Town Police Station in this regard.
Two child prisoners from Kaimur district and one from Bhojpur district were brought over to the only Remand Home in the erstwhile Shahabad district that included Bhojpur, Buxar, Rohtas and Kaimur district, located in Dharahara locality on Ara -Patna main road, under Ara Town police station, on July 31, 2018, in connection with murder and also under SC/ST Act.
On August 1, 2018, morning, about eight inmates of Ara Remand Home took the new entrants : Shrawan Kumar, Sonu Patel, and Sany Kumar, inside the washroom and sodomised them one by one. They were also threatened with dire consequences if they dared say anything to anyone about it. The accused also thrashed them. When the parents of two of the victims came for their release after they were granted bail by the court, they narrated their ordeals to their parents. Their parents became furious and registered their strong protest in front of the Remand Home.
All the three victims told this Reporter at Ara Sadar Hospital that over half a dozen inmates had sodomised them. Superintendent, Ara Remand Home, Rajiv Ranjan Grain said that he admitted all the three victims to Ara Sadar Hospital after the matter came to his knowledge but he refused to say anything more on the issue.
