299 new TB patients detected in Muzaffarpur

Muzaffarpur : Altogether 299 new TB patients have been identified in Muzaffarpur district and their treatment started early this month. Meenapur and Gaighat blocks of the district fall in the high-risk zone as far as TB goes.

District Communicable Diseases Officer Dr Amitabh Kumar Sinha said that the patients were being required drugs free. That apart, they get a fixed amount for diet every month which goes into their respective bank account, Dr Sinha said. Some patients need to take drugs for up to two years, he said. Dr Sinha said that 34 TB patients, who failed to take full course of drugs, suffered relapse of the disease and were under treatment again.
