Patna : Fifteen wickets fell on Day 1 in the first test between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, UAE, on March 2, 2021. Electing to bat after winning the toss, Afghanistan were all out for just 131 in 47 overs as fast medium bowler Blessing Muzarabani, 24, took 4/48 in 12 overs while fellow fast medium bowler Victor Nyauchi, 28, took 3/34 in 10 overs. Zimbabwe lead by 2 runs.

Afsar Zazai (wk), 27,  top scored for Afghanistan with 37 in 70 balls hitting 6 fours while opener Ibrahim Zardan scored 31 in 41 balls with 5 fours. Leg spinner Amir Hamza, 29,  remained unbeaten on 16 in 35 balls with 3 fours.

In reply, Zimbabwe were 133 /5 in 39 overs at stumps on Day 1 with Sean Williams (captain), 34,  unbeaten on 54 in 78 balls with 5 fours while  Ryan Burl was unbeaten on 8. Sikandar Raza scored 43 in 62 balls hitting 5 fours. Williams and Raza added 71 runs for the 5th wicket. Zimbabwe were reduced to 38/4 after 14.5 overs.

Opener Kevin Kasuza fell to medium fast bowler Yamin Ahmadzai, 28,  for zero making 5/1. Tarisai Musakanda fell to spinner Amir Hamza for 7 and it was 22/2. Opener Prince Masvaure also fell to Hamza for 15 qand it was 38/3. At the same score, Wesley Madhevere fell lbw to Hamza for zero making it 38/4. Sikandar Raza also fell to Hamza, who has taken 4/61 in 17 overs.
