Ara : All the 1,338 Homeguards jawans in Bhojpur district proceeded on an indefinite strike on March 15, 2017, evening to press their 12 points demands including equal pay for equal work and restoration of their daily allowances. They were on mass leave since March 11, 2017, for the same reason.. These Homeguards were deputed at banks, traffic, jail, post office, government offices and maintenance of law and order.

Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh, however, said their strike had not affected law and order in the district as he had made alternative arrangements to deal with the situation. On the other hand, patrolling and traffic arrangement have been adversely affected after the Homeguards went on strike. District police have been pressed into traffic and patrolling duty. Out of 1338 Homeguards, about 1,100 were deputed in rural areas.
