Ara : Hundreds of employees of the Department of Post went on indefinite strike on March 16 paralysing the work in post-offices protest against the alleged anti-employee policy of the Central Government. They staged dharana at the gate of the Head Post Office and raised slogans against the central government.

Addressing the meeting, Krishna Murari,, secretary, Post Office employees union, said that the government wants to abolish services of the Postal employees but they would not let them do so. He said that the union government had formed a committee of ministers on the demands of the employees to consider their demands but the committee had submitted its report even after nine months. He also said that the government did not give benefits of seventh pay commission to the postal employees.
