Gopalganj: Eleven persons sustained injuries in a violent clash between two groups at village Mahuawa under Kuchaikot police station in Gopalganj district on January 22. A bike was set ablaze in the clash and both sides used traditional weapons and pelted each other with stones.

The injured persons were admitted to Kuchaikot Primary Health centre by police. Tension prevailed in the locality and senior officials including Sadar SDM Mritunjay Kumar, SDPO Manoj Kumar and policemen from different police stations were camping at the village till the filing of the report.

Locals said that one Bindeshwari Prasad Kushwaha was returning to his village Mahuawa from local market when a group of anti-social elements assaulted him and set ablaze his bike. As the family members of Bindeshwari got the information, they attacked the other group with traditional weapons. Altogether 11 persons including Ramnath Bhagat, Bipin Kumar, Pramod Kumar, Sangita Kumari, Vinit Kumar, Manorama Kumari, Happy Kumari, Sandhya Kumari, Madhu Kumari and Ranjit Kumar sustained injuries in the clash.

The villagers informed the local police about the incident. Sadar SDM said that stern action would be taken against the culprits. The local police have intensified patrolling in the locality. Sensing the gravity of the situation, Inspector Baleshwar Rai, Jadopur ps SHO Rakesh Mohan, Uchakagaon ps SHO Anil Kumar, Bishambharpur ps SHO Vikash Kumar, Gopalpur ps SHO Ajay Kumar, Kuchaikot BDO Drishti Patak and CO Amit Ranjan are camping at the village.
