Ara : A student was killed while three others were injured when a tree fell on them near Sanskritik Bhawan, Ramana Road under Nawada police station, Ara, in Bhojpur district, on March 31, 2019, evening.
Plice brought the body over to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem and admitted the injured to a private clinic. The doctor later referred two of the injured to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). The deceased was identified as Suraj Kumar alias Golu, 15, son of a tea vendor Binod Kumar of MP Bagh under Ara Town police station.
SHO, Nawada police station, said that the boys were playing at Ramana Maidan near Sanskritik Bhawan o n March 31 evening when a big Eucalyptus tree suddenly fell on four of them while dozens of other boys escaped narrowly. The locals tried to free the boys trapped under the tree but Suraj Kumar had died. The locals rescued three boys and informed policeĀ about the incident. Police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured boys to a private clinic and brought the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The SHO said that Suraj Kumar had appeared at the matriculation examination this year and was awaiting the results.
Ara MP and Union Power Minister (independent charge) Raj Kumar Singh had said that Rs 50,000 is allotted every month to the SBPDCL to trim the trees leaning over electric wire.
