Patna : World Number 5 in ATP rankings and 4th seed Alezander Zverev, 20, Germany, and fast rising tennis star Borna Coric, 21, Croatia, have entered the quarterfinals of Miami Open ATP Masters 1000 tournament. Both will meet in the quarterfinals.
Zverev defeated World Number 20 and 17th seed Nick Kyrgios, 22, Australia, 6-4, 6-4, at Crandon Parl Tennis Centre, Key Biscayne, Florida, USA, in the Round of 16 on March 27, 2018, to enter the quarterfinals. Coric, the World Number 36 and 29th seed, defeated World Number 46 Denis Shapavalov, 18, Canada, 7-6, 4-6, 6-4, to enter the quarterfinals. Coric had also reached the semi-finals of Indian Wells ATP Masters 1000 but lost to World Number 1 Roger Federer, 36, Switzerland.
World Number 19 and 16th seed Pablo Carreno Busta, 26, Spain, defeated compatriot Fernando Verdasco, 34, the World Number 39 and 31st seed, 6-0, 6-3, to enter the quarterfinals. World Number 8 and 6th seed Kevin Anderson, 31, South Africa, entered the quarterfinals after defeating World Number 63 Frances Tiafoe, 20, USA, 7-6, 6-4, to enter the quarterfinals.
World Number 6 and 5th seed Juan Martin del Porto, 29, Argentina, the winner of Indian Wells ATP Masters 1000 men’s single title recently, defeated World Number 27 and 22nd seed Filip Krajinovic, 26, Serbia, 6-4, 6-2, to march into the quarterfinals. World Number 25 and 20th seed Milos Raonic, 27, Canada, defeated World Number 90 Jeremy Chardy, 31, France, 6-3, 6-4, to enter the QF.
del Porto and Raonic will meet in the quarterfinals while Pablo Carreno Busta will meet Kevin Anderson. John Isner, USA, will meet Hyeon Chung, South Korea, in the QF.
