Gopalganj: Police on Monday recovered body of a youth from an under-construction house at Sohnariya Bazaar under Kateya police station in Gopalganj district. The victim’s throat was slit open with a sharpedged weapon, which was also  found from the spot by police. Police later identified the deceased as Mukesh Kumar Ojha, son of a Homeguard jawan Sri Prakash Ojha of village Amhi Banke under Kateya police station.

The villagers said that Mukesh used to drive a JCB vehicle in Gujarat and had come to his native village about two days ago. They said that Mukesh had gone to Baghuch Ghat on Sunday evening and returned home again.The villagers said that some of Mukesh’s friends called him from his house and later murdered him after assaulting him mercilessly the same evening.

As the news of Mukesh’s murder spread in the locality on Monday morning, the villagers got agitated and blocked the main road demanding immediate arrest of the killers.

Sensing the gravity of the situation, Hathwa SDPO Mohd. Imteyaz and local SHO Laxmi Narayan Mahto along with reinforcement from neighbouring police stations reached there and pacified the mob. Later, the body was sent to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital for autopsy. Police lodged an FIR against 10 persons based on the statement of deceased’s father.

SDPO said that raids were on to arrest those involved in the crime. He said that reason behind the gruesome murder would be clear only after the killers were arrested.
