Patna :  World No 96 Lorenzo Sonego, 23, Italy, a qualifier, stunned World No 12 Karen Khachanov, 22, Russia, 7-6, 6-4 in the 2nd round of Monte-Carlo Masters on April 16, 2019, night. Lorenzo won 56 service points in the match to 45 by Khachanov. Lorenzo fired 5 Aces in the match to 3 by Khachanov. Lorenzo’s winning percentage on both his first and second serve was better than that of his opponent.

But, World No 13 Borna Coric,  22, Croatia, and World No 16 Marco Cecchinato, 26, Italy, advanced to the Round of 16 of the tournament on April 16, 2019, late night.

Coric beat World No 61 Jaume Munar, 21, Spain, in a three-set thriller 6-7, 7-6, 6-4 coming back from behind in the second round. Coric broke Munar’s service 4 times while the latter broke his service 3 times. Both the players won 3 games each in a row. Munar fired 5 Aces in the match to 3 by Coric. Coric though committed 3 double faults in the match to 1 by Munar. But, Coric won 83 service points to 75 by Munar.

Cecchinato beat winner of 3 Grand Slam singles title and World No 36 Stan Wawrinka, 34, Switzerland, in a tough three-set contest 0-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the 2nd round. Wawrinka, however, won 4 break points in the match to 3 by Cecchinato. He also fired 5 Aces in the match to 2 by Cecchinato. Wawrinka won 8 games in a row in the match to 5 by Cecchinato.

Cecchinato, however, won  55 service points to 43 by Wawrinka, whose winning percentage on both his first and second serve was better than that of his rival.
