World No 93 Collins shocks Venus in Miami Open 2018

Patna : World Number 93 in the WTA rankings Danielle Collins, 24, USA, shocked World Number 8 Venus Williams, 37, USA, in the quarterfinals 6-2, 6-3, to enter the semi-finals of Miami Open Masters for the first time.

Collins will play World Number 5 and 6th Jelena Ostapenko, 20, Larvia, the reigning French Open Champion, in the semi-finals. Ostapenko defeated World Number 4 Elina Svitolina, 23, 7-6, 7-6, in the quarterfinals.

World Number 186 but twice Australian Open Champion Victoria Azarenka, 28, Belarus, will meet reigning US Open Champion and World Number 12 Sloane Stephens, 24, USA, in the other semi-finals. World Number 22 Naomi Osaka, 20, Japan, had won the Indian Wells women’s singles title recently.
