Patna : World No 64 Joao Sousa, 30, Portugal, stunned World No 9 and 2nd seed Karen Khachanov, 23, Russia, in Round of 16 of St Petersburg Open, an ATP 250 points event played on hard courts, at St Petersburg, Russia, on September 19, 2019, to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament.
Sousa beat Khachanov in straight sets 7-6, 6-4 in 1 hr 38 minutes in Round of 16. Sousa won 2 break points to 1 by Khachanov. He also won 3 games in a row in the match to 2 by Khachanov. Berrettini will face Egor Gerasimov, 26, Belarus, in the QFs on September 20, 2019.
