Patna : Top seed Daniil Medvedev, 25, Russia, and 5th seed Alexander Zverev, 23, Germany, crashed out of ATP ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament at Rotterdam, Netherland, suffering shock defeat in their respective first round matches on March 3, 2021.

World No 27 Dusan Lajovic, 30, Serbia, stunned World No 3 Daniil Medvedev, 25, Russia, in straight sets in first round of ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament at Rotterdan, on March 3, 2021, to reach the 2nd round of the ATP 500 event.

Lajovic beat top seed Medvedev,  who had reached final of Australian Open 2021 recent, 7-6, 6-4 in 1hr 34 minutes.  The Serbian won 2 break points in the match to 1 by the Russian. Lajovic won 3 games in a row during the match to 2 by Medvedev, who hammered 12 Aces to none by the Serbian.  The Russian, however, also committed 8 double faults. Lajovic, in all, won 80 points during the match to 68 by the Russian. Lajovic will face World No 26 Borna Coric, 24, Croatia, in next round.

World No 43 Alexander Bublik, 23, Kazakhstan, upset World No 7 Axexender Zverev in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 in first round. Bublik fired 5 Aces in the match to just 1 by the German. The Kazakh won 4 break points during the match to 2 by the German. Bublik won 5 games in a row during the match to 3 by Zverev. Bublik, in all, won 65 points to 56 by Zverev. Bublik will face World No 56 Tommy Paul, 23, USA, in next round.

Sixth seed David Goffin, 30, Belgium, defeated World No 37 Jan- Lennard Struff, 30, Germany, 6-4, 6-0 in first round. World No 14 Goffin won 5 break points during the match to 1 by the German. He fired 6 Aces in the match to 4 by Struff. Goffin won 8 games in a row during the match to 2 by the German. Goffin will face World No 64 Jeremy Chardy, 34, France, in next round.
