Patna : World No 251 Janko Tipsarevic, 35, Serbia, crushed top seed and World No 12 Fabio Fognini, 32, Italy, in straight sets in second round to enter the quarter-finals of Stockholm Open, an ATP 250 points event, at Stockholm, Sweden, on August 17, 2019. Tipsarevic beat Fognini 6-1, 6-1 in just 61 minutes in 2nd round in a massive upset in the tournament.

The Serbian won 6 break points in the match to 1 by the Italian, who had Monte-Carlo Masters title in April 2019. Tipsarevic also won 6 games in a row in the match. He won 28 service points to 24 by the top seed. Fognini committed 7 double faults to 3 by the Serbian. Tipsarevic fired 3 Aces in the match to 2 by Fognini. Tipsarevic will face World No 129 Yuichi Sugita, 31, Japan, in the QFs on October 18, 2019. Sugita defeated World No 83 Stefano Travaglia, 27, Italy, 7-6, 6-4 in 2nd round.

World No 35 Pablo Carreno Busta, 28, Spain, the 5th seed, beat World No 124 Gianluca Mager, 24, Italy, 6-3, 7-6 in 1hr 27 minutes in 2nd round winning 1 break point besides winning 3 games in a row to reach QFs of the tournament. The Spaniard won 53 service points to 38 by Mager. Busta will face World No 50 Sam Querrey, USA, in QFs on October 18.
