World No 15 David Goffin, 28, Belgium, World No 80 John Millman, 30, Australia, and World No 127 Taro Daniel, 26, Japan, also entered the QFs of the e vent on October 3.
Chung stunned 2014 US Open Champion and 6th seed Cilic 6-4, 3-6, 6-1 in 2 hr 2 minute in second round at Ariake Forest Sports Plaza, Koto, Tokyo, Japan.
