Patna : World No 119 Jannik Sinner, 18, Italy, handed a shock defeat to top seed and World No 13 Gael Mongils, 33, France, in 2nd round of European Cup at Antwerp, Belgium, in a massive upset in the tournament, an ATP 250 points event.

Sinner brushed aside Monfils 6-3, 6-2 in  just 60 minutes winning 4 break points besides 3 games in a row to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament. Monfils though fired 9 Aces in the match to 2 by Sinner. But, Monfils committed 5 double faults to 1 by Sinner. The Italian won 34 service points to 31 by the French. Sinner will face World No 53 Frances Tiafoe, USA, in the QFs on October 18, 2019.
