Ara : New Year ay was celebrated in Bhojpur district with much fun and frolic. As the clock ticked 12, people of every age started wishing their dear ones. On January 1, 2018, morning,  people particularly women wished to start their first day of the year with prayer so they thronged different temples especially Aranya Devi and Mahavir temples at Ara.

From early morning, Veer Kuer Singh Park, different hotels and restaurants, gardens and river banks, Ramana Maidan and Bakhorapur Mandir, the banks of rivers Sone and Ganga, Veer Kuer Singh Fort at Jagdishpur, Mahathin Dai temple at Bihia, airport at Majhaua, Ara, buzzed with activities of thousands of boys, girls and even elderly people who gathered there for enjoying the day as special one. Besides, several people visited Bahiara under in Koelwar block which has a palace like construction and a number of ponds and a 100 feet high stupa of British period. Drinking water is supplied to the people from here.

The people also exchanged gifts and greetings to express their happiness. Some people also went on picnic with their family members to celebrate the day. Almost all the temples, hotels, restaurants were decorated tastefully with lights, flowers and balloons. Hotels and restaurants made several lucrative offers to attract people, who enjoyed live orchestra, DJ and cracker show amid lots of fun, frolic and lip-smacking food especially mutton, fish, chickens there. Some clubs and organizations organized cultural programmes like songs, dances, orchestra and cracker show on December 31, 2017, evening.
