Woman throws 2 kids into Ganges, wanted to commit suicide with 3 children

Patna : One Manorma Devi, 35, on August 22, 2018, tried to commit suicide along with her 3 children by jumping into river Ganga from J P Setu. Manorma first threw her 2 children, Prince Kumar, 18 months, and Nisha Kumari, 5, into the river and then was herself jumping into the river with her third child at 10.30 am on August 22, 2018, but was prevented by few passers by.

Prince and Nisha drowned into the river. Lallan Manjhi, one of eye-witnesses, saved Manorma from jumping off with her third child. An FIR was lodged in this connection by Lallan Manjhi. Manorma’s husband, Amarjeet Ram, 38, is absconding. Police have charged Amarjeet with abetment in crime as he provoked and forced Manorma to take the extreme step. The couple, who work at Manjhi, were financially very weak and often quarreled. The couple belong to village Jhakhra, Shambhuganj tehsil, under Banka district. SHO, Manjhi police station, said that raids were on to nab Amarjeet at the earliest.
