Patna : The RJD on August 22, 2018, claimed that the transfer of a senior CBI official probing the Muzaffarpur shelter home sex scandal case may impact the investigation. But, the JD(U) and BJP strongly refuted the charge. The CBI had last month taken over the inquiry into the alleged sexual abuse of 34 girl inmates at government-funded shelter home at Muzaffarpur.

Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly Tejaswi Yadav, in a tweet, alleged that after Bihar Governor, CM Nitish had also got CBI SP transferred.” He said that JP Mishra, Special Crime Branch SP, who was part of the team probing the Muzaffarpur case, had been transferred. Devendra Singh, SP, Anti Corruption Bureau, Lucknow, has been given the additional charge of the SCB in Patna, Tejaswi tweeted.

It may be mentioned here that Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik was on August 21, 2018, appointed as governor of Jammu and Kashmir. The RJD has been attacking Bihar CM Nitish Kumar over some letters that Malik had written to him recently expressing concern over the case.

However, the ruling JD(U)-BJP alliance in Bihar challenged the opposition parties to move court if they had problems with the administrative reshuffle in the probe agency. JD(U) spokesman Neeraj Kumar, MLC, asked why was the RJD expressing concerns on Twitter. If it feels that the transfer is a matter of concern, it should move the court, he said. He said the the Nitish Kumar government first recommended a CBI inquiry and thereafter requesting the Patna High Court to monitor the probe.

BJP spokesman and former MLA Rajib Ranjan also criticised the opposition parties’ stance asking how did they know that the probe will be adversely affected. The new officer may end up doing better than his predecessor, he said.
