Woman killed for dowry at Saharsa village

Saharsa : America Devi, 25, wife of Ranvir Yadav of village Matkhorha under Kaneria police outpost in Saharsa district, was allegedly killed by her husband and in-laws on April 26, 2017, night, for dowry by hanging her from the ceiling.

Ranvir Yadav had allegedly also developed extramarital relationship with a woman and been putting constant pressure on Americal Devi to bring more dowry, alleged her brother Bipin Kumar Yadav of village Thatha under Mansi police station in Khagaria district in an FIR lodged with Kaneria police under Simribakhtiarpur police station. All the accused including Ranvir Yadav have fled Matkhorha though police are conducting raids to nab them . Incharge, Kaneria OP, Niranjan Kumar, said that the body was sent to Saharsa Sadar hospital for post-mortem.

Bipin, in his FIR, alleged that soon after her marriage her in-laws started putting pressure on America Devi to bring more dowry and in 2015 he had lodged a case with Simribakhtiarpur police station in this connection and brought his sister back to village Thatha in Khagaria district. But, after sometime, Ranvir gave an undertaking in the court that he would treat America Devi well and took her back to village Matkhorha. But, soon he developed extramarital relationship with a woman and started neglecting his sister besides torturing her for dowry, Bipin alleged.
