Bettiah: West Champaran police have arrested three including a Karate coach of the five named accused in sensation case of burning of two sisters in their room on April 19, 2017, when they were sleeping in which one of them Samata Kumari, 19, died on the spot.
West Champaran SP Vinay Kumar said that main accused Nawanil Niraj was arrested on April 26, 2017, evening under Kangali police station area adjacent to Nepal border where he was under treatment because he had also received burn injury in the incident. Two other accused Amit Kumar and Sunil Kumar were arrested from different places in the police district while the remaining two accused will be arrested very soon, the SP said. Police will submit chagesheet in the case soon and seek speedy trial of the accused.
West Champaran SP Vinay Kumar on April 27, 2017, said that two sisters : Mamata Kumari, 19, and Samata Kumari,16, daughters of Rameshwar Thakur of village Pokharbhinda under Bettiah muffasil police station, were asleep at their house on April 19 night when Nawanil Niraj allegedly sprinkled petrol in their bedroom and set it afire. Samata Kumari, younger daughter of Rameshwar Thakur, died on spot while his elder daughter Mamata Kumari suffered serious burn injuries and admitted to a private Motihari hospital but could not survive.
Sources said that Nawanil Niraj runs a martial arts training centre at Lalbazar in Bettiah town. Mamata Kumari was his student and he wanted to marry her but after failing in his efforts he allegedly tried to kill her.
