Ara : A married woman Pushpa Devi of  village Kaithi under Sandesh police station was strangulated to death at her in-laws’ place at Ramdihal Tola under Chandi police station in Bhojpur district for dowry on November 15, 2018, evening.

Police brought the body over to Sadar Hospital, Ara, for post-mortem on November 16, 2018, morning. An FIR has been lodged with  Chandi police station against Pushpa’s husband and in-laws on the statement of her brother Mahadev Singh but no arrest has so far been made in this connection.

SHO, Chandi police station, said that Pushpa Devi of village Kaithi under Sandesh police station was married to Santosh Singh, son of Nagendra Singh of Ramdihal Tola under Chandi police station just six months back and ever since was allegedly being tortured by her in-laws for more dowry and when their demands were not fulfilled, they strangulated her to death. On the other hand, the relatives of Santosh Singh said that Pushpa was anaemic and was undergoing treatment.
