Ara : A married woman was recently killed at village Laharabad under Piro police station (PS) in Bhojpur District in South Bihar for a motorcycle. The deceased was identified as Poonam Kumari, 23, wife of Pankaj Kumar alias Pankaj Yadav of village Laharabad.
A named FIR was lodged by Piro PS in this connection against Poonam Kumar’s husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and brother-in-law on the statement of her brother Niraj Kumar.Police are investigating the matter.
Niraj Kumar said that Poonam Kumari was married to Pankaj Kumar alias Pankaj Yadav, son of Shiv Narayan Singh of Laharabad, in May 2015. Four years after the marriage, his sister informed him that her in-laws were allegedly torturing and thrashing her for a bullet motorcycle. Her family members rushed to her in-laws’ place and admonished them but they continued misbehaving with her. They had allegedly unsuccessfully tried to kill her with electric wire in 2019 but after taking a gold chain, they had stopped torturing her for sometimes. But again, they demanded bullet motorcycle. and when their demand was fulfilled, they killed her.
On the other hand, cousin brother-in-law of the deceased, Chandra Bhushan said that she was diagnosed as suffering from giddiness after three years of marriage and was treated at a private clinic several times at Piro. On February 27, 2022, she fell ill after taking meal in the night but no hospital was open and so they waited for morning. On February 28, 2022, she was admitted to the Primary Health Centre, Charpokhari, but the doctor referred her to Ara Sadar Hospital where she breathed her last during treatment on February 28, 2022, late evening. He informed her parents about the incident but her parents instead threatened them.
