Ara : A woman Rina Kumari was allegedly killed at her in-laws’ place and the body was thrown into a canal at Piro Milki Mor under Piro police station in Bhojpur district for not begetting a male child. Police found the body floating in the canal at Ojhawalia Mor Ganga Tola and brought it to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem on November 27, 2017.

A named FIR has been lodged with Piro police station against three persons including the husband of the deceased but no arrest has so far been made in this regard. SHO, Piro police station, said that Rina Kumari, daughter of an LIC agent Moti Lal Singh of Subhash Nagar locality under Dehri – on -Sone police station in Rohtas district, was married to Ravi Shankar Singh, son of Raj Kishore Singh of village Basauri under Sikarhatta police station in Bhojpur district, in 2009. She had a six year old daughter. Her in- laws tortured her for not bearing a male child and finally killed her and also tried to burn her body and when failed, they threw the body into a canal near the village.
Moti Lal Singh alleged that after her marriage her in laws tortured her for a gold chain and a motorcycle and in the meantime she delivered a female child that added to her woes as her in- laws started torturing her more. He said that Ravi Shankar disliked his daughter and wanted to marry second time.

Rina Kumari narrated her woes to her parents on mobile on November 17, 2017, and requested them to reach Piro immediately. Her father and brother Manoj Kumar Singh rushed to her on November 18, 2017, but found her house locked and every member of the family absent. An FIR has been lodged against Ravi Shankar Singh, his father Raj Kishore Singh and his mother Phuljharo Devi on the statement of the deceased’s father Moto Lal.
