Buxar : A woman and her two minor children were burnt to death at Jarigawa Bind Toli under Buxar Muffasil police station in Buxar district in the wee hour on January 9, 2021. The husband and the brother-in-law of the deceased fled are absconding after the incident site after the incident.

The deceased were identified as Hemanti Devi, 35, wife of Upendra Bind, her four month son, and six year old daughter Ragini Kumari. Police recovered the bodies and brought them over to Buxar Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. An FIR was lodged by Buxar Muffasil police station in this connection and police are investigating the matter.

SHO, Buxar Muffasil police station,Manoj Kumar Singh said that Hemanti Devi was sleeping with her son and daughter in a room .He said that in the wee hour on January 9, 2021, the room in which Hemanti Devi and her two children were sleeping suddenly caught fire and she along with her children was burnt alive. Upendra Bind and his younger brother fled away from the place of occurrence after the incident. Upendra Bind’s mother attributed the fire to short circuit but police are not inclined to believe it.

The SHO stated that the mother of the deceased alleged that Upendra Bind had extra-marital relation with a woman of the village which her daughter Hemanti Devi always protested and so both had tiff over the issue often. She further said that the matter was settled at the village panchayt some days ago. She alleged that Upendra Bind himself set afire Hemanti Devi and her two children.

Buxar SP Neeraj Kumar Singh said that the circumstances under which the woman and her two children had died creates suspense and even the mother of the deceased revealed some facts that strengthens the notion that Upendra Bind was the main suspect. The SP said  that police are investigating the matter and it would be too early to say anything in this regard.
