Ara : Renu Devi of village Noorchak under Sigauri police station in Patna district was hanged to death allegedly by her in-laws at village Karwasin Khilia under Sahar police station in Bhojpur district on December 22, 2017, for dowry. Later,police brought the body to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem.
SHO, Sahar police station, Sanjay Kumar said that Renu Devi of Noorchak village under Sigauri police station in Patna district was married to Gajendra Rai of village Karwasin Khilia under Sahar police station in Bhojpur district in 2015 and was being tortured ever since for Rs 1 lakh more in dowry. When their demand was not fulfilled, her in-laws allegedly hanged Renu Devi from the ceiling of her room and killed her.
On getting information from the villagers, police rushed to the spot and seized the body and brought it to Ara Sadar Hospital for post-mortem. The SHO said that police were conducting raids to arrest Renu’s in-laws.
