Ara : A married woman filed a complaint case in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM), Ara, against her husband, father-in-law, and mother-in-law for demanding dowry and against her brother-in-law (devar) for outraging her modesty. The court directed Sandesh police station to lodge a named FIR in this connection.

The woman, a native of village Jitaura  under Bihia police station in Bhojpur district, said that she was married to Vikas Kumar Kesari, son of Munna Sah Kesari of Kora-Kauri village under Sandesh Police station on November 28, 2016. Her father had given Rs 3 lakh cash and ornaments worth about Rs 8 lakh besides utensils, Godrej Almirah and Washing Machine and other articles at the time of marriage. She said that Vikas Kumar Kesari had refused to perform ‘sindurdan’ demanding a Bullet motorcycle but after much persuasion the marriage ceremony was solemnised and she came to her in-laws at Kori-Kaura village but was ever since being tortured allegedly by her in-laws for more dowry and a Bullet Motorcycle while her brother-in-law (devar) started indecent behaviour with her.

In the meantime, she went to Vikas at Mau in UP where her husband worked and lived in the railway colony. Later, her brother-in-law also reached there and one day he allegedly outraged her modesty when her husband had gone on duty. She had informed her parents about it.
