Patna : Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) scored a massive 245/6 in 20 overs against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the 44th match of IPL 2018 at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on May 12, 2018, courtesy a rollicking 75 in 36 ball with 9 fours and 4 sixes by opener and top spinner Sunil Narine and a 23 ball 50 with 5 fours and 3 sixes by captain Dinesh Karthik, his first fifty in IPL this season.
KXIP had won the toss but opted to bowl, which proved to be a wrong decision. The KKR scored their highest score in the IPL history bettering their previous best 222. KKR scored 59 runs in the mandatory power play ( 6 overs).
Sunil Narine was involved in a 53 run stand with his opening partner Chris Lynn, Australia, for the first wicket. Lynn scored 27 in 17 ball with 2 fours 2 sixes. Robin Uthappa made 24 in 17 ball with 2 fours and a six while Andre Russel made 31 in 14 ball with 2 fours and 3 sixes. Nitish Rana made 11 in 4 ball hitting a four and a six while Subham Gill remained not out on 16 in 8 ball hitting 3 fours. KKR batsmen hit 15 sixes.
For KXIP, Andrew Tye, Australia, took 4/41 in 4 overs while Mohit Sharma took 1/40 in 4 overs. Barinder Sran took 1/48 in 3 overs.
