Ara :  A pregnant woman Dharmshila Singh died on the operation table during operation at a private clinic at Shahpur under Shahpur police station in Bhojpur district on December 7, 2017. He family members and relatives blocked the Ara – Buxar main road at the gate of the private clinic with the body holding the doctor concerned for the death of the woman.

Seeing the fury of the relatives of the deceased, the doctors, compounders and other staff of the private clinic closed the clinic and fled the scene. The protesters were demanding action against the doctor and the private clinic management. They also demanded compensation to the kin of the deceased.

Vashishth Prasad, Chairman, Nagar Panchayat, Shahpur,  said that most of the private clinics and medicine shops are running without license and demanded of the Civil Surgeon, District Magistrate to inquire into the matter and take stern action against their owners.

Dharmshila Singh, wife of Ranjeet Chaudhary of village Bharauli under Shahpur police station, was admitted to a private clinic at Shahpur after she complained of labour pain on December 3, 2017, where the doctor advised cesarean section for delivery. On December 7, the doctor performed the operation and she delivered a female child but died during operation. The deceased is survived by her husband, three daughters: Riya, 5, Shivani, 7, and the newborn.
