Nawada: A married woman Shaba Praveen, 18, driven to desperation by the inhuman attitude of her in-laws as well as the apathetic attitude of the Nawada police, attempted to end her life on July 20, 2017, by consuming poison in the court of ADJ III leaving the judge as well as the advocates shocked. She woman was immediately rushed to the sadar hospital for treatment where her condition is reported to be stable.
According to court sources, Shaba Praveen, 18, of Rajhat village under Akbarpur police station, was married to Mohammad Raunaq of Takiapar locality under Nawada police station in 2016. However, her dreams of leading a happy conjugal life received a jolt when her in-laws and her husband started torturing her and pressurised her to return to her parents at Rajhat. But she refused to leave her
“sasural” despite her in-laws offering her a huge amount to return to her parents, claimed the victim.
Shaba Praveen also approached the SP as well as the SDPO in the hope of getting justice but to no avail. Finding herself cornered between her brutish in-laws and an unresponsive police, she tried to end her life in the temple of justice, the court.
