Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, arrested a woman drug peddler Kanchan Devi, wife of Ramakant Sharma of village Kharetha under Bikram police station in Patna district, near Nala mor under Town police station, Ara, and also seized 60 packets of Heroin from her possession on March 26, 2017, evening and forwarded her to jail.
A named FIR has been lodged Town police station against Kanchan Devi and Ganesh Paswan in this connection on the statement of an ASI Prmod Kumar though Ganesh Paswan is absconding. SHO, Town police station, J P Singh said that Kanchan Devi revealed before police that she had purchased Heroin from Ganesh Paswan near Gangi and was going to Ara railway station on a three- wheeler when she was arrested.
It may be mentioned here Gangi area under Town police station is a hub of Heroine and other narcotics sale. The people involved in the racket have employed a number of persons including young girls and women and supply drugs to different areas. These girls and women work as maid in different houses and sale Heroin to young boys and girls easily. They also work as carriers.
The SHO said that police were conducting raid at regular interval and had arrested two youth of Patna two months back with Heroine. He said that police had arrested Chhathu Paswan, a kingpin of drug smuggling, from Ara a year ago but he got bail and had again become active.
