Kishanganj: A wild elephant, which entered Kishanganj district from Nepal on October 29 night, has created havoc in the tea gardens besides damaging brick kilns in the district particularly in Thakurganj and Pauakhali areas. According to unconfirmed reports, the elephants trampled to death a man near at Balkadubba.

The elephants also entered the brick kiln of former MLA Gopal Agrawal by breaking its big iron gate in Thakurganj area. It also damaged a brick kiln at village Chapati under Pauakhali police station in the district besides damaging  the standing crops at Piprithan in Thakurganj.

SHO, Pauakhali  police station, Mehfooz Alam said that the elephant was still present in tea gardens. Although environment and forest department officials and police have reached the area, the elephant is yet to be trapped. Former MLA Agrawal confirmed that the elephant had broken the big iron gate of his brick kiln on October 29 night.
