Bagaha : A wild bear suddenly came out of Madanpur forests range under Valmikinagar Tiger Reserve (VTR) in West Champaran district on March 23, 2017, morning and entered Belahawa, Laukaria, Chhataraul and Balua  villages and attacked and injured over a dozen villagers including four women.

Laukaria police station SHO Sunil Kumar said that Tirthraj Mahto,  25, Babulal Chaudhary, 50, Muni Devi, 30, Dil Kumari, 25, Rajaniti Devi, 60, of Laukaria village, Tribeni Mahto, 50, Manjoor Alam , 35, of village Belahawa and Devendra Mahto, 35, Khagendra of village Balua were admitted to Primary health centre, Harnatand, while others with minor injuries returned home after first aid. The bear reportedly entered the house of Tribeni Mahto of village Belahawa. The VTR personnel led by Madanpur range officer Anand Kumar encircled the house and were trying to trap the bear in a net, sources said.
