Widow threatens to start indefite fast from Nov 15 if her husband’s pension not paid

Bagaha: Gayatri Devi, wife of  a retired teacher late Ganganath Tiwari of village Baragaon under Bagaha town police station in West Champaran district, has informed the higher authorities of State Bank of India including  Assistant general manager(AGM, Pension Wing), Patna, that she would resort to fast unto death from November 15, 2016, if the Bagaha Bazaar branch of SBI does not pay the retiral benefits of her husband to her before second week of November. She is not getting family pension either. Ganganath Tiwari retired in 2014 and died few months after superannuation.

Bagaha SDM, after varification of documents of Gayatri Devi attached with her petition, sent it the AGM, SBI, Pension, on Saturday asking him to release the retiral benefits including pension of Tiwari to his widow at the earliest. Sources said after verification of all necessary papers, Tiwari’s pension was cleared by the education department and a letter was sent through DM, West Champaran, to SBI, Bagaha bazaar branch, to pay the pension amount but to no avail.
