Patna : Afghanistan were reduced to 109/7 in 36 overs at stumps on Day 2 in their second innings in the one off test against West Indies (WI) on November 28, 2019, at Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, UP, India, leading by only 19 runs with only 3 wickets in hand and three days play still left. WI had won the toss and opted to bowl.

WI spinners Rakheen Cornwall and Roston Chase wreaked havoc taking 3 wickets each while Ihsanullah Janat was run out for 1. Opener Javed Ahmadi scored 62 in 93 balls with 11 fours while his opening partner Ibrahim Zadran scored 23 in 63 balls with 4 fours. Ahmadi fell to Roston Chase while Zadran fell to Cornwall. Rahmat Shah fell to Cornwall for a duck. Asghar Afghan also fell to Cornwall for a duck. Nasir Jamal fell to Chase for 15. Amir Hamza also fell to Chase for 1.

Earlier, WI were all out for 277 in 83.3 overs in their first innings with Samarh Brooks scoring 111 in 214 balls with 15 fours and a six, his first test ton,  while opener John Campbell scored 55 in 75 balls with 6 fours. Both Brooks and Campbell fell to spinner Amir Hamza. Opener Kraigg Brathwaite also fell to Hamza for 7. Shimron Hetmyer fell to spinner Rashid Khan ( captain) for 13 while Roston Chase fell to spinner Zahir Khan for 2. Shane Dowrich (wk) fell to Zahir Khan for 42 in 81 balls with 6 fours. WI Captain Jason Holder  fell to Amir Hamza for 11. For Afghanistan, Amir Hamza took 5/74 in 28,3 overs while Rashid Khan took 3/114 in 32 overs. Zahir Khan took 2 wickets.

Afghanistan had scored 187 in their first innings with opener Javed Ahmadi scoring 39, Afsar Zazai scoring 32 and Amir Hamza 34. Captain Rashid Khan fell to Jason Holder for 1. WI spinner Rakheen Cornwall took 7/75 in 25.3 overs while Holder took 2/22 in 17 overs.
