Patna : West Indies on October 27, 2018, night, defeated India by 43 runs in the 3rd ODI at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, to level the 5-match ODI series 1-1. India had won the first ODI while the 2nd ODI had ended in a tie. Captain Virat Kohli scored 107 runs in 119 ball, his 38th ODI century, with 10 fours and a six but no other top order batsman tried to stay put at the wicket for long.

India won the toss but opted to bowl. West Indies scored 283/9 in 50 overs riding on 95 by wicketkeeper Shai Hope, 37 by Shimron Hetmyer, and 32 by captain Jason Holder.

Chasing a target of 284, India were all out for 240 in 47.4 over Kohli’s century notwithstanding. Openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan scored 8 and 35 runs respectively while Rishabh Pant made 24. Ambati Rayudu scored 22 and M S Dhoni 7. Spinner Kuldeep Yadav remained not out on 15.

For West Indies, Jason Holder, Obed McCoy, and Ashley Nurse took two wickets each while Marlon Samuels took 3/12 in 3.4 overs. Fast bowler Kemar Roach took 1/40.
