Patna : Seven-time champion Serena Williams, 38, USA, crashed out of Australian Open (AO) 2020 losing to World No 29 Qiang Wang, China, the 27th seed, the 8th seed, in third round in a three-set thriller at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Park, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, on January 24, 2020. World No 9 Serena Williams, who had last won AO title in 2017, was bidding for record equalling 24th Grand Slam title.
Wang, 28, stunned Serena 6-4, 6-7, 7-5 to enter the fourth round of Australian Open. Wang won 3 break points in the match to 1 by Serena. Both the players won 3 games each in a row in the match.
