Bettiah : District Magistrate, West Champaran, on March 5, 2019, urged social organizations operating in the district to create awareness among people to stop animal sacrifice besides checking their smuggling into Nepal to prevent their sacrifice on the occasion of Garhi Mayee Mela there.
The DM asked various cultural organisations to come forward for this benevolent work and arrange corner meeting displaying placards regarding the prevention of animal sacrifice. The Supreme Court of India had issued strict order for checking animals’ entry into Nepal. A meeting will be convened at Lauria, Chanpatia, and Bettiah, on March 7,2019, to discuss the issue and corner meetings will be organised to create awareness among general masses.
