World No 55 Pauline Parmentier, 33, France, defeated World No 75 Margarita Gasparyan, 24, Russia, 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 to enter the 2nd round. Parmentier will face World No 14 Elise Mertens, 23, Belgium, in the 2nd round.
