Ara: Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, has not held pre Ph.D test since 2014. As per the regulation 2009 of the University Grant Commission (UGC), the students who wish to do Ph.D are to be admitted in their respective departments. After passing the Pre Ph.D test, students are registered with the departments concerned and attend six months computer classes. The university would take admission for Ph. D as per the vacancy in the departments concerned.

Vice-Chancellor, VKSU, Leela Chand Sah said that the VKSU administration was trying to conduct the Pre Ph.D test in the last week of August if all the PG departments inform about vacancies in the respective departments by the second week of July. The VC said that the VKSU administration had sought details regarding vacancy in every PG department but only three PG departments: Mathematics, Economics and English, have sent vacancy report so far despite several reminders.

The university administration has prepared work plan for the Pre Ph. D test and it would be based on UGC and NET syllabus. The questions would be of two types: objectives of 100 marks and descriptive too of 100 marks, said the VC and added that students seeking to appear at the Pre Ph D test, will have to fill up examination forms online and submit the printout of the same in the examination department of the university along with bank draft. The students would take examination in their respective departments this time.

The VC said mathematics department has no vacancy and so no pre Ph. D test for the subject would be held, said the VC and added that the date of the examination would be announced after the university office received vacancy reports from all the 16 PG departments. He said the geads of all the PG departments have again been asked to submit vacancy report by the second week of July.
