Ara: After the University Grant Commission  (UGC) directed all the universities to start Ad on Course, the Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU), Ara, administration has asked the Principals of all the constituent colleges under it to prepare lists of Ad on Course and submit them to the university at the earliest.

Vice Chancellor, VKSU, Leela Chand Sah said that Ad on Course is a six month job oriented course and the students may get job easily after completion of this course. He said the governor’s  nod is not necessary to start of this course and colleges may start the course after approval from the university. He said list of over 300 Ad on Course is available on the site of the UGC and colleges have the freedom to choose from the list . The course is also available at PG level. The UG students wishing to join this course will have to complete it during their three year graduation period while PG students will complete it in two years.  Its examination will be held at college level and the degree would have value of certificate course. The course also falicitates accreditation of colleges with the NAAC.

Shershah College, Sasaram, has sent list of Ad on Course to the university and the VKSU gave its approval at its last academic council meeting. Jagjiwan college, Ara, sent a list of four Ad on Course that includes certificate on Floriculture, Computer Information Technology, Yoga and Journalism and Mass Communication.

The VC said that students’ union election would be held after the governor gives approval to the proposal university  sent to him on July 4, 2016, in this regard. He said a five member committee and 11member advisory committee have been formed to work out modalities. He said that the governor office had sent a proposal to all the universities including the VKSU for their suggestion to the draft prepared by Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University (TMBU) for holding the students’ union election.
