Ara : The villagers caught two truck hijackers near Mohammadpur village under Koelwar police station on Ara-Chhapra main road on April 5, 2019, morning, while two of their accomplices escaped from the scene. The villagers thrashed them and later handed them over to police.
Police rescued the truck drivers from the clutches of the hijackers, arrested the hijackers, and sent them to jail after interrogation. Police also seized a countrymade pistol, four live cartridges, and a mobile from their possession. An FIR was also lodged with Koelwar police station against them in this connection.
Bhojpur SP Aditya Kumar said that a truck was carrying cosmetic goods worth about Rs 35 lakh from Kolkata to Patna City. Due to traffic jam, the driver parked the truck near Dobhi bridge of Gaya on April 4, 2019, late evening, when four armed miscreants made the truck driver Bir Bahadur Yadav of Nandpur village under Brahmpur police station in Buxar district captive at pistol point and dumped him in the cabin of the truck.
On April 5 morning, the villagers heard some sound from inside the truck and informed police. As the miscreants saw the police, they tried to escape but the villagers chased and caught two of them: Dheeraj alias Raju Yadav, son of Vishwanath Yadav of Nizampur-Jehnaganj in Azamgarh district of Uttar Pradesh, and Sanjay Yadav, son of Bijay Yadav of Khanpur-Itaha village in Gazipur district in Uttar Pradesh, while two of their accomplices : Ritesh Yadav and Bijay Bahadur of Chakrapanpur village in Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh escaped taking advantage of the melee. Police police are conducting raids to arrest Ritesh Yadav and Bijay Bahadur.
The SP said that after nabbing the two miscreants, the villagers thrashed them. Police admitted the injured miscreants to the Primary Health Centre for treatment and sent them to jail later. The SP further said that an FIR was lodged with Dobhi police station in Gaya for truck loot while an FIR under Arms Act was lodged with Koelwar police station in Bhojpur district.
The SP said that the arrested miscreants revealed during interrogation that they had planned to sell the goods in Balia in Uttar Pradesh and the truck was to be sold in Azamgarh.
