Villagers block road in Gopalganj to protest delay in arrest of murder case accused

Gopalganj: Angry over the delay in arrest of those involved in the murder of one Jitendra Yadav of village Rampur Khareya, the villgers blocked the main road at Baghuch Chowk under Kuchaikot police station in Gopalganj district on Wednesday. The agitation also paralysed movement of vehicles on Sipaya- Mairwan State Highway and Sasamusa- Jamunha main road. Over a dozen vehicles including school buses remained stranded for over seven hours andpolice team had to face the ire of the locals.

Body of Jitendra Yadav, son of Khedan Choudhary of village Rampur Khareya, was found hanging from a tree in a field at village Bhopatpur on September 23, 2016. He had left his house on September 21. After the incident, the locals had blocked the main road at Bhopatpur on September 24. Later, police arrested the named accused Bhola Mian from Sasamusa on September 29. However, the villagers were not satisfied with the action taken by the police.

On Wednesday, they came on road, alleging that the local police were not cracking the case due to some political pressure. On getting information, SDPO and SDO reached the spot. Seeing the situation getting out of control, more a cops from Gopalpur, Thawe, Jadopur, Vishambharpur and Town police stations besides Policelines were called on the spot. Later, the mob called off their agitation after positive assurance from SDPO and SDO.
