Patna : World Number 1 Men’s Badminton player Viktox Axlelsen, Denmark, 23, defended his BWF Dubai Super Series Finals title by defeating World Number 2 Lee Chong Wei, Malaysia, in a three set thriller 19-21, 21-19, 21-15 in the final on December 17, 2017, night, at Sheikh Hamdan Stadium, Dubai, to end the year on a high. Lee Chong Wei is a four time winner of the event. World Number 4 Kidambi Srikanth, who had won four Super Series titles in 2017, lost all his three matches in the group stage and failed to qualify for the semi-finals.
