Ara : A State Vigilance Investigation Bureau team from Patna on May 22, 2019, arrested a Sub-Inspector (SI) posted at Jagdishpur police station in Bhojpur district Maheshwar Giri accepting Rs 20,000 as bribe from a party for helping it in a case. Later, the Vigilance Bureau team carried Giri to Patna.
Two groups had clashed over a trivial at Jagdishpur about two months ago and two separate FIRs were lodged with Jagdishpur police station by both the groups. The SI demanded Rs 20,000 from one of the groups to help it in the case but it lodged complaint with Vigilance Bureau at Patna in this connection.
The vigilance team inquired into the allegations against the SI and found them true. A Vigilance Bureau team then laid a trap and reached Jagdishpur on May 22 and arrested SI Giri from a bylane near Jagdishpur police station accepting Rs 20,000 from the party and carried him to Patna.
